Honor Our Heroes This July: Supporting Wreaths Across America's Mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach

At Eastside Memorial Park, we understand the profound importance of honoring those who served our nation. That's why we're proud to participate in Wreaths Across America's annual "Giving in July" campaign—a meaningful opportunity to ensure that every veteran receives the recognition they deserve.

What is Wreaths Across America?

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose year-long mission is to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach our children the value of freedom. Each December, millions of volunteers gather at cemeteries across all 50 states and beyond to lay wreaths on the graves of American heroes, creating a powerful moment of remembrance and gratitude.

The Power of "Giving in July"

The Wreaths Across America Giving in July campaign has begun, and supporters are invited to contribute toward the goal of placing a wreath on every grave during the 2025 holiday season. This summer fundraising effort ensures that when December arrives, we'll be ready to honor every veteran with the dignity and respect they earned through their service.

"With a growing need each year, it is never too early to begin our efforts," campaign organizers said in a statement. "Fundraising is a year-round endeavor."

2025 Theme: "Keep Moving Forward"

This year's theme was inspired by the last words of Captain Joshua Byers, United States Army, KIA, in Fallujah, Iraq, July 23, 2003. When an IED struck his Humvee, Captain Byers gave his driver a final command: "keep moving forward." These words saved lives and became a rallying cry for his unit and family.

"There will always be challenges to overcome as individuals, communities and a country, but we must keep moving forward together," said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

Each wreath costs $17, but donations of any amount are welcome and impactful. Whether someone gives $5 or $500, the campaign's mission remains the same: to remember and honor veterans and bring comfort to their families during the holidays.

When you sponsor a wreath through Eastside Memorial Park, you're not just purchasing a memorial decoration—you're:

  • Ensuring dignity for our heroes: Every wreath placed represents a life of service and sacrifice

  • Bringing comfort to families: "Wreaths Across America is a reminder to the families who have lost loved ones that they are appreciated," said Eldon Woodie, chairman of the Support Committee for the Alabama National Cemetery. "Their service counts."

  • Teaching future generations: Each ceremony serves as a living history lesson about the cost of freedom

  • Supporting our community: WAA has given back more than $28 million in local contributions through this national program over the last 17 years!

Looking Ahead to December 2025

National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Join the more than two million volunteers and supporters who will gather to Remember, Honor and Teach at more than 4,900 participating locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.
