Antoinette Davino Cirrito
January 6, 1920 - August 14, 2020
Antoinette Davino Cirrito went to heaven on Friday, August 14, 2020, seven months after she celebrated her 100th birthday. Antoinette enjoyed the arts and opera, and was an artist herself. She made patchwork quilts, knitted and sewed, and cooked the best lasagna, eggplant parmesan and beef braciole. She was known as the Rummikub Queen. Antoinette was devoted to her Christian faith, her family, and was very kind and generous. She was a graduate of Hunter College, one of the first women to earn a bachelor’s degree there. Antoinette loved to travel and many times took her children traveling with her. She was a model of courage and fortitude having survived 9/11 and breast cancer. Her absence leaves a hole in our hearts, but we will always cherish wonderful memories of her. Antoinette passed away peacefully at home. Our loss is heaven’s gain,“ the dust returns to earth as it was and the spirit returns to God who gave it.” (Ecclesiastes 12:7) Antoinette is survived by her children and their spouses: Alfonso (Mauna), William (Carmen), Suzanne (Robert), Nancy (Kenneth), Marilynne, daughter-in-law Maureen and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Antoinette was predeceased by her first husband, William Davino; second husband, Stephen Cirrito; son, Michael, and grandson Michael William Jr. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Antoinette’s memory to the Samaritan’s Purse: https://sampur.se/31b8sDf or Salvation Army http://salarmy.us/Antoinette . A service will be scheduled in New York City in the Spring of 2021.
