Born Edmund James Harper Jr., Jim was son to Jim and Jackie Harper. He was born in Walla Walla, Washington and graduated from Wilson High School in Los Angeles in 1963. That year he enlisted in the Navy and served as a Flight Deck Crew Member on the U.S.S. Kearsarge before being honorably discharged in 1965. He held many job titles, including a job at Cecil's Industry Laundry, earning him the nickname "Jumbo," working as a linesman for Pacific Bell, a foreman for Arizona Pipeline, and an Assistant Chief of the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department. He married the love of his life, Sally Evans on June 16, 1972, and became a step-father to her sons Mark and Michael. They were married for 46 years before Sally's passing, spending most go that time living in Gardnerville, NV and owing businesses of their own. He loved to go water skiing, travel the world by RV and cruiseship, and show off his skills on a Cribbage board and Pickle Ball court. Jim has built memories with friends all over the world, and they will miss him dearly. Jim leaves behind his step-sons, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
