Daniel Allen Dummer's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Allen Dummer, aged 79, of Wellington, NV. Daniel passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born on January 13, 1947, in Aiken, MN, to Carl and Jeanette Dummer, he relocated to California as an infant. He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. Shortly after his enlistment, he married his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Alana Dummer.
Upon completion of his military service, Daniel returned to California, where he and Alana raised three children, all of whom continued his legacy by serving in the Navy, a source of immense pride for him. Daniel applied skills acquired during his service to paint fire trucks and later airplanes, eventually owning and operating a full-service gas station in Orleans, CA. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Orleans Volunteer Fire
Department, serving as both EMT and fire chief. Daniel then moved to Bishop, CA where he retired from the U.S. Forest Service as Fleet Maintenance Inspector.
After relocating to Wellington, NV, Daniel became an active member of VFW Topaz Post 3630 and later served as post commander. Known for his generosity and kindness, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, painting, woodworking, and spending time tinkering on various projects with his children and grandchildren.
Daniel is survived by his devoted wife, Alana; daughter Kimberley (Billy); sons Adam (Robin) and Matthew (Mallory); grandchildren Laurel, Kendal, David, Andrue, Kinslee, and Cody; brother Burton (Joan); sisters Lucille (Jim) and Carlene (Brian); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Jeanette Dummer of Brentwood, CA.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone at Carson Valley Health who stepped in Daniel’s room and participated in his care. We appreciate the compassion and patience in dealing with the family as well. We were a lot.
Details regarding a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the VFW Topaz post or a local veteran’s group.
