Michelle Savoy Day's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michelle Savoy Day on February 15, 2026. Michelle departed this world at the age of 34, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, and an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She was born on June 19, 1991, in the picturesque town of South Lake Tahoe, California, to her loving parents, Mark and Kelli Day. Michelle was a bright light in the lives of her family and friends. Sister Jennifer Day of Reno, NV, her grandparents Silas and Mary Jo Savoy of Minden, NV, and her grandmother Virginia Day of Lincoln, CA. She was a beloved niece to Uncle Donnie Savoy and Aunts Donna Day and Sue Day, and she shared a special bond with her cousins, Jordon Savoy and Paris Inman-Clark. She loved her dogs Riley and Biscuit.
Michelle's educational journey was marked by dedication and a deep sense of purpose. She graduated from Douglas High School in 2009 and pursued her passion for justice, earning an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice from Western Nevada College in 2013, and a Associates of Science in Criminal Justice from the Air Force. Her commitment to service led her to the United States Air Force, where she attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, serving with distinction as a Combat Arms Instructor from 2012 to 2019. She was stationed at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Tyndall AFB, Panama City, Florida, with a deployment to Qatar. Her service to her country was a testament to her courage and unwavering dedication.
Following her military service, Michelle continued to explore her diverse interests. She joined Franklin Armory as a weapon assembler and tester, and later, her compassionate nature guided her to a new calling as a Massage Therapist and Health Educator, achieving her certification from the National Holistic Institute in 2023. Michelle was a vibrant and adventurous spirit. She loved soccer, camping, Jeeping, and being outdoors. More recently, she discovered a newfound passion for working with therapy horses, a pursuit that brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Her involvement with organizations like the VFW and Healing Arenas exemplified her commitment to community and service.
Michelle's witty humor, radiant smile, and contagious laughter could light up any room, and she had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. Her kindness and warmth touched the lives of many and left an enduring impact on her community.In honor of Michelle's life and her generous spirit, a military burial will be held (family), Eastside Memorial Cemetery, Gardnerville, NV 10am, with a Celebration of Life afterwards (friends and family) Elks Lodge, Gardnerville, NV. Noon. Both on Saturday June 6th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carson Valley Veterans, Healing Arenas, and Northern Nevada Honor Flight, organizations that were close to her heart.
Michelle Savoy Day will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her time with us was far too short, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, forever cherished in our hearts.
