Sharlene Gail Desens' Obituary
Sharlene Gail Desens, born November 20, 1948, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, surrounded by love.
Sharlene began her professional career at the Claremont College School of Theology in Claremont, California, before moving into commercial lending with CIT Group. Later in life, she pursued her paralegal certificate and graduated from Catherine’s College in Glendale, California. She went on to enjoy a long and successful career as a paralegal, retiring in 2021.
After retirement, Sharlene and her husband, Joe, moved to the Galena Forest area of Reno—a place they had long loved for its proximity to Lake Tahoe. She cherished the peace, tranquility, and natural beauty of their home in Galena. Sharlene and Joe were married for 36 years and shared a deep and devoted partnership.
Sharlene is lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe; children, Kris, Jim (and his wife Linda); her stepchildren, Jesse (and his wife Tracy) and Jodi (and her husband Jeff); and her six grandchildren: Jenna, Olivia, Jake, Cole, Simone, and Jade.
She had a sharp mind, a warm heart, and a fun-loving spirit. Sharlene especially loved playing Keno—often with surprising success—and she brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She also deeply loved her dog Scarlett, who was always by her side. Her presence, sense of humor, and deep love for her family will be missed beyond measure.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1 at 11:00a.m. for family and friends to pay their respects to the beautiful Sharlene.
